My first time to Hawaii

Tuesday 9/23/25

🍁 Good Morning, My Ray of Sunshine 🌞 How are you today?

Is your sun shining bright?

🍁 I am well rested, good broken sleep with a local rooster that crowed during the night demanding the sun to rise!! Now that it has, he won't shut up!!

🍁 I left you yesterday with arriving in Maui with a hefty bump on the airstrip. So... our luggage was waiting for us, intact, and we headed for the exit.

🍁 We waited on the curb for Marz's friend, Niki to pick us up. A quick trip to her home and our temporary residence. A king bed for Pepper and Marz, a queen for Evy & Eden and a twin for me.

🍁 After an intro visit, Pepper took the girls to a nearby beach. Niki said we could visit a different beach every day and still not see them all! The girls reported it was fun to get knocked over by the waves 🌊

🍁 Marz and I opted to stay home. She and Niki caught up on their news. I worked slowly on my report. I asked Niki if they were affected by the fires 🔥 last year. She said not directly. For a few days they did host a family that had no power.

🍁 Google reports: "The deadliest U.S. wildfire in over a century devastated the Hawaiian island of Maui in August 2023, claiming 102 lives and leveling the historic town of Lahaina, according to Maui County officials."

🍁 Pepper and the girls came home with groceries from Safeway. And the family enjoyed a slide show of their lives while Dad Bruce cooked dinner. His pork and cabbage dish over rice was delicious! We wrapped up the evening with a ghost movie.

🍁 I fell asleep on the first paragraph of this report but had finished yesterday's collages. They are mostly about our arrival: pictures as we flew in, the airport and our ride to Niki's. And did you know yesterday was the first day of fall?!! 🍁🍂🍁

🍁 And with that, it's 6:30 Hawaii time, 8:30 Alaska time, the sky is bright and the rooster continues to crow and I'm off. 👋✋👋
