Signs of a stroke

💔 Good Morning, Sweetheart. How are you this first day of August? Don’t blink, it’ll be New Year’s Day pdq!! 

💔 I am ready for a new day, as I recognize once again the fragility of life.

💔 Early in the morning yesterday, a 49 year old father and husband had a stroke in his sleep. In the afternoon recovery efforts had failed and they decided he was to be kept alive for donors… I don’t  know details but family has asked me to remind everyone to know the signs of a stroke. So….

💔 To quickly spot a stroke, remember the acronym FAST: Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, and Time to call 911. If you observe any of these signs, it's critical to call emergency services immediately. 

💔 Recognizing stroke symptoms early is crucial because it allows for prompt medical intervention, which can significantly minimize brain damage and improve the chances of recovery. The faster treatment is administered, the greater the likelihood of regaining lost functions like speech, movement, and memory. 

💔 In the case of this young man, I don’t know how much it would have mattered. I believe when you are called to go ‘home’ there’s nothing anyone can do. My Ross had his first heart attack at 49 and lived till he was 72 years old. And I carry a DNR order.. if I’m dead, let me stay dead! 

💔 In another world, I talked with my brother Bill in Minnesota today. There was a three day storm that swept from South Dakota into Minnesota and on over to Wisconsin. His hometown was one of the first to get hit in Minnesota. His basement is flooded. His yard is flooded. There’s no where dry for his dogs to go out. So yeah, some national news hits close to home.

💔 Meanwhile, talked with Danny last evening. I’ve been thinking about  writing a book, maybe doing a video, YouTube,  something. And that boy pushed like crazy for me to get busy and do it! Welllll, meanwhile, I’ll continue to sort through my pictures and eliminate as many as I can. One video how-to suggested putting them in albums according to video plan 😳

💔 And on the home front, my niece J joined me for my trip into Anchoragewhere I returned my Birkenstocks. They had told me that they would order Mephisto’s for me. But the pair I showed them is on sale and they ‘can’t’ touch it! I have a pair arriving today. Will get them checked out with Dr. H on Monday. Hoping we can find a sandal that will properly support my feet and help me be more physically stable.

💔 Anyhow, time to hit go…
